A killed enemy has a good chance of dropping an XP gem (blue < green < red < ?).Vampire Survivors is an excellent indie game that has been taking certain parts of the internet by storm, and for good reason. Getting toasted is very frustrating and feels unfair because it lacks some relatively-standard modern polish: enemies don’t bounce-off / get knocked back when they touch you if you’re walking and hit an enemy, you don’t move through them, and don’t easily move around them, you just push them straight in front of you, so they remain in contact with you You get 0 invincibility frames upon taking damage, HP just drains rapidly until gone, and there’s not much of it to begin with You unlock stuff as you go, too, though it’s quite expensive, seems like you’d need to grind a lot of plays to afford much of ’em. You could overhaul the leveling system and cut game time in half and the experience. Hyper mode seems basically the same to me. As is, once you beat a map there’s no real reason to play again. There might be a frame window when the game doesn’t accept inputs when it’s transitioning back? Games like this are always better with some kind of scoring system based on performance. When you finish upgrading, sometimes the game eats your directional movement input and you just stand there like an idiot and get swallowed by the horde. Ace Combat Assault HorizonĪlso having some variation in HP of boss units would be nice, honestly hard to tell if there is already but a bat should not have the same HP as like a giant praying mantis or whatever. Not really fun to sit there dumping everything into 1 guy for 5 seconds when there’s 50 more behind him, best part of the library map is mowing down thousands of weak units. The green ghouls that spawn with the circle of flowers, the red winged bats, and the werewolves are just bullet sponges and take several seconds to kill each. On the mad forest map, several of the monsters have too much HP imo.

Literally no point to it once you upgrade and unlock the characters also. It’s cool for the last minute to farm coins but when it’s like 5 minutes cause you leveled super quick it gets boring FAST FAST FAST. When you run out of upgrades, instead of letting you choose health or coins maybe have super abilities that are there to be as ridiculous and fun as possible. Seeing dozens of enemies die every second is cool, synergies are cool, it’s not too hard (a bit RNG reliant, but it’s a roguelike in the end), and it’s fun. Luckily, your level ups help you by upgrading your owned weapons – more projectiles, penetrations, bigger AOEs, reduced cooldowns-, or adding new ones, as well as general powerups – things like movespeed, health, regen, etc. Enemies spawn randomly from all sides, and will quickly start to grow in either health (different, bulkier enemies) or sheer number. You start with one weapon (based on your charachter) and get more every time you level up (which happens by picking up gems from fallen enemies). So the more you play, the more the game opens up. Additionally you unlock new weapons and power-ups buy reaching milestones with weapons and characters. You keep any gold you collect and can use it to buy permanent global upgrades for all characters. The first few runs are fun but you’ll get waxed pretty quickly. Leveling up allows you to chose upgrades that will either enhance your current weapons, give you new ones, or improve your defense (I never choose defense.

The cost of all powerups increase by about 10% after each purchase, so its wise to buy the most expensive one first. You can also buy powerups at the Main Menu. Wish all weapons get evolved forms later. I accidentally found out evolved King Bible and that weapon mowed so many enemies down lol. The weapon combinations to get evolved weapons is a nice touch. The game wants you to experiment with builds.
Each time your character levels, you get a choice of 3 random powerups or passive. Its more like a bullet hell, but you’re not dodging bullets, just monsters instead. Each character has a passive and your goal is to survive the horde of monsters thrown at you. You start with 3 characters and unlock and buy more.
